Trend Report : Skinny Cords
Lately I've been neglecting my jeans more and more in favor of other pant styles with just as much versatility - skinny knit pants, cargos and slouchy pants. However my new favorite pant for fall is definitely the skinny cord in neutral autumn tones.
Paired with deep jewel tones, textured knits and structured booties, skinny cords are the perfect laid back look for the impending cold fall/winter months. Layering and accessories are key elements to making this look come to life - chunky knits, flannel plaid, shearling jackets, fringe booties, thermals and even a fur vest - bring it all together. This 70's inspired look is more downtown chic than uptown runway which makes it one of the most wearable trends this fall.

Diane Von Furstenberg - Spring 2012
It's that time of year again where the tents go up and New York City is abuzz with fashion enthusiasts who come to pay homage to another season of amazing designs - Spring Fashion Week 2012 is upon us.
To kick it off Diane Von Furstenberg debuted an amazing collection that perfectly contrasted the dynamic between feminine and masculine silhouettes. For every blazer and loose trouser there was a printed dress in traditional DVF fashion. Neutral hues of cream and beige with lighter colors like peach and mint green perfectly complemented bright pops of yellow, teal, orange and green. Throughout the collection influences from the1940's and 50's can be found in the full skirts and tailored trousers while the prints were more reminiscent of the 1960's.

A Petite Inspiration of French
Daydreaming in French today and seeing myself as a chic young lady walking the streets of Paris, eating a chocolate croissant on my way to an art class or a job in a petite hole in the wall boutique. Alas maybe someday - till then a girl can dream. In the mean time here is a visual interpretation to tide me over.

A (Paper) Crown Fit for a Fashion Queen
I hate to admit it but years ago when The Hills first premiered on MTV I - much like the rest of the female population - became addicted. Out of all the crazy drama girls Lauren Conrad seemed to be the only one who was actually normal. She was that cool chick you could grab a drink with and gossip about fashion. Over the years fashionistas alike followed and copied her evolving style through the gossip and fashion magazines making her a new kind of modern style icon. A couple of books and a Kohl's clothing line later and the girl has fully cemented her status as a bona-fide fashion icon.
Her new line - Paper Crown - is the epitomy of downtown chic. Basic staples make up the collection - with well tailored boyfriend blazers, flowy maxi dresses, sassy leather shorts, and loose silky tops - all so versatile that they are easily integrated within any wardrobe.
